About us

Before founding OffsetMyFlight.org, we would be concerned when engaging in climate action. We thought that our contributions wouldn’t reach the right projects—or that a significant portion would be lost to overhead costs. That uncertainty is exactly what inspired the creation of OffsetMyFlight.org: a platform built on transparency, trust, and real environmental impact.

We're making climate action simple, affordable, and impactful.

We're on a mission to help individuals and businesses take real responsibility for their travel emissions through high-quality, independently verified carbon offsetting.

Why Carbon Offsetting?

The reality is clear: CO₂ emissions are the biggest driver of climate change. And while reducing emissions is essential, we can't stop every tonne from entering the atmosphere—especially when it comes to air travel. That’s where carbon offsetting comes in.

By funding trusted projects like reforestation, clean energy, and community-based climate solutions, we help neutralize the environmental impact of your emissions—right now.

Your contribution won’t fix the climate crisis overnight—but it will make a real, measurable difference through the high-impact projects we support.

Transparency You Can Trust

We believe you should always know how your money is being used. While the average UK charity allocates around 75% of its budget to programmes, we go further.

85% of our subscription budget goes directly to carbon offsetting and tree planting projects. The remaining 15% is split between administrative costs (5%) and fundraising and marketing (10%)—which helps us reach more people and increase our collective impact.

20% of our subscription budget, despite the higher cost, we proudly allocate to carbon offsetting and sustainable tree planting projects right here in the UK. By Supporting woodland creation in Scotland and England, we ensure that our environmental impact is not only global- but also felt locally, in communities across Britain.

Why We Use a Variety of Carbon Offset Projects

While tree planting is one of the most well-known and emotionally resonant methods of carbon offsetting—offering added benefits such as biodiversity support and ecosystem restoration—it is not the most efficient in terms of carbon reduction. On average, a single tree absorbs approximately 25 kg of CO₂ per year, making it a relatively slow offsetting method when used alone.

To ensure maximum impact and value for our customers, we incorporate a diverse portfolio of offsetting projects. These include more carbon-efficient solutions such as kelp farming, renewable energy initiatives like hydropower, and other high-impact environmental programs.

By combining tree planting with these highly effective technologies, we deliver strong environmental benefits while keeping offsetting affordable, scalable, and scientifically sound.

Climate Change Can’t Wait

  • 2030 is the tipping point: According to the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), we have only a few years left to prevent irreversible global warming.
  • 1 million species face extinction: Climate change is accelerating biodiversity loss at an unprecedented rate.
  • Government efforts aren’t enough: The UK’s net zero target for 2050 is important—but voluntary action is needed today to close the gap.

Offsetting your emissions is an immediate, practical way to make a difference.
